December 3rd 2007, Atlanta, GA and Caesarea, Israel – Professor Friedrich (Fritz) Magerl, a world renowned spine pioneer, has joined Mazor Surgical Technologies’ Scientific Advisory Board. Professor Magerl will advise Mazor in matters concerning spine surgery and new procedures that the company intends to release in the coming year.
Mazor is the developer and manufacturer of the SpineAssist miniature robotic surgical positioning system and will present its innovative products at the German Spine Congress in Mannheim (12-15 December).
Responsible for the development of many implants and operative techniques, Professor Magerl revolutionized attitudes to the way the spine is stabilized. Though no longer actively operating, Professor Magerl has been taking an active role in research and the development of new procedures.
Professor Magerl has over 40 years of practice experience, 15 years of which as Senior Physician and 10 years as head of the Clinic for Orthopedic Surgery at the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gall in Switzerland. During those years he invented many of the spinal procedures, which went on to become the standard of care at spine centers around the globe.
“A Master of Spine, one of the most important spine surgeons in the world, has joined our Advisory Board,” says Ori Hadomi, CEO of Mazor Surgical Technologies, "It is a true honor and I am naturally very happy with professor Magerl’s decision." Mazor is currently developing several promising procedures and a new clinical approach, and is pleased that Prof. Magerl’s advice will contribute to bringing these innovations into practice.
Mazor also announced this week that Mr. Jonathan Aderet, former President and Business Manager of Elscint, was appointed head of the company’s directorate. Aderet’s experience and connections in the Medical Industry and especially in the Imaging field would be a benefit to Mazor’s expanding international sales activities.
